It will be taught over three sessions, allowing time for each layer to dry between sessions.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNo previous painting experience is required, just basic drawing skills.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWeek 1 (February 15, 2026) - Subtractive Underpainting\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou will learn how to prepare a canvas with a layer of paint, then subtract your image. This is easier than it sounds, but why good drawing skills are essential.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWeek 2 (February 22, 2026) - Glazing\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou will apply your first layer of color to your painting using transparent paints. This is a quick process, allowing us time to discuss various mediums you can mix into your paint to speed up the drying process. We will also explore ways of using color to add depth to your paintings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWeek 3 (March1, 2026) - Opaque Layer\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis week you will finish your paintings with opaque paints, adding details and texture.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe price of the workshop includes a 9\"x12\" gallery-wrapped canvas, professional grade paints and mediums. Brushes and disposable palettes will be available for use. If you have oil brushes, you may bring them, but it is not recommended to use the same brushes for oil and acrylic paints.
