The Ceiba Tree represents the Tree of Life in many cultures, with its roots reaching down into the Underworld and its vast array of branches stretching up into the Heavens. Here in Puerto Rico it holds the added symbolism of resilience, hope and Unity - no wonder when these trees have withstood numerous hurricanes to live hundreds of years! I painted this tree using more impressionistic brushstrokes to capture more of the Essence of the Ceiba with rays of light streaking through its leaves.
